There is so much nature to discover in the Belgian Ardennes! Particulary in Vielsalm and its environment. Explore over 500 km of marked trails in the forest and through the typical villages of our two municipalities: Vielsalm and Gouvy. There is a range of walking maps, illustrating varied walks of differing lengths. You can get maps of walks in the municipalities of Vielsalm or Gouvy from the the Tourist Office and the Tourism Association of Gouvy. You can also buy them online on their site.

The retailers’ association of Salmchâteau wanted to draw attention to the village’s heritage, and particularly the historic visit by Victor Hugo in 1862. Indeed, at the time, the famous French novelist and poet had immortalised one of the most beautiful places in Salmchâteau: the old Madeleine bridge with the ruins of the château of the Counts of Salm in the background. The walk forms a loop of 7 km starting from the Madeleine bridge (rue du Rivage 10). It is interspersed with ten panels in FR/NL quoting Victor Hugo. Maps of the route are available at the Vielsalm Tourist Office and in shops in Salmchâteau. Not accessible with pushchairs.
